Big Spring Farm is situated in the picturesque countryside of the Shenandoah Valley, offering a scenic and serene setting for weddings and events. The venue boasts expansive landscapes, rolling hills, lush gardens, and a tranquil pond, creating a charming and natural backdrop for couples’ special days. The willow trees make for romantic framing around your outdoor ceremony, or maybe a private first look behind the hanging branches.

It’s known for hosting both outdoor and indoor ceremonies and receptions, allowing couples to customize their wedding experience based on their preferences and the weather. Virginia is known for its gorgeous landscapes and many flock here to plan their outdoor weddings. But, rain plans are important! Weather is unpredictable, and it’s critical to be prepared so you can still enjoy your day regardless of the weather.

Venue Capacity: Up to 300 Guests!

Because there’s plenty of space for outdoor and tented events, the capacity at Big Spring Farm is somewhat open-ended. It would be hard to manage an event with over 300 guests due to the parking, restroom, and other logistics of hosting a large event in an outdoor space. The pole and beam barn–often a rain plan for Big Spring Farm weddings–can host 150 guests seated. If you are planning on an outdoor event without a tent, you may want to cap your guest count at 150 in case things get moved indoors.

Staff, vendors, and Accommodation

As a wedding photographer, I work with lots of venues and vendors throughout the year. I really enjoyed my experience at Big Spring Farm. The last time I worked there, we had truly terrible weather and had to make major timeline shifts, design changes, and manage a large crowd of people. I was really impressed with the venue staff, preferred caterer, and planner on site that day in handling everything with grace. Big Spring Farm has a great list of preferred venders to help get you started planning your wedding there. They’ve been around a long time and have worked with the best of the best in Virginia weddings! I won’t hold it against them that I’m not on the list just yet.

Venue Pricing at Big Spring Farm

Pricing is not publicly available, so you’ll have to inquire with Big Spring Farm. This is likely due to the variations in event sizes and accommodations, and how far in demand they book up. Couples start booking their wedding at this venue 1-2 years out, so reach out as soon as you can. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask questions. An inquiry doesn’t commit you to anything, and I promise their customer service is top notch. They’re there to help!

Wedding Photography at Big Spring Farm

There are soooo many photogenic locations at Big Spring Farm. Personally, I love the field above the venue, overlooking the water and getting great sunset light. In the summer, it’s bright with wildflowers! In the fall, the mountains show off their colors in the background. Another favorite spot is the peninsula, a lush green spot surrounded by water and framed in mature weeping willow trees. Even on rainy days, we can duck under the cover of the barn awning and still get the scenery of the lake in the background. You really can’t go wrong here!
