Grace & Elliot’s downtown mall Charlottesville engagement session
Some of my favorite engagement sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like a date night I got to tag along on, and that’s exactly what happened with Grace and Elliot on the downtown Charlottesville pedestrian mall. We started at the library, walked around to the spot where they had their very first date, then wandered past colorful storefronts and spring blooms that gave the whole session that fun, playful energy they wanted. In front of the Paramount Theater, a street musician was playing, so naturally they stopped right there on the mall and slow danced like no one else was around. We ducked into one of Charlottesville’s secondhand bookstores for a few cozy, quiet frames, then ended the evening with ice cream from one of their favorite downtown spots. Every part of the session felt true to who Grace and Elliot are as a couple: easy, joyful, and full of character.
When I sent them their full gallery, they had the sweetest response! Grace said “Thank you so much, Jo! We are so happy with the photos, and even happier with the experience we had taking them. I just flicked through them all and fell in love with Elliot all over again.“
If you’re searching for a Charlottesville engagement photographer who loves capturing real, fun moments like this one on the downtown mall, I would love to hear your story. Sessions like this are exactly why downtown Charlottesville is one of my favorite spots for engagement photos. Or, wherever is meaningful to you! Whether it’s a first date spot, favorite memory, or somewhere new you want to explore together, locations with a story are always a great choice.
