CrossKeys Vineyards Wedding | Summer in Harrisonburg VA, Lindsay and Reese
CrossKeys Vineyards in Harrisonburg, Virginia is one of the most breathtaking wedding venues in the Shenandoah Valley, and wedding photographer, I can say Lindsay and Reese’s wedding there was nothing short of magical. Set against sweeping mountain views, blooming hydrangeas, and a willow tree overlooking a peaceful pond, this family focused, joy filled celebration captured everything we love about emotionally intuitive wedding photography in Virginia. From a rain soaked first look on a hidden balcony to a sparkler filled send off, here’s a look inside their day.

How Lindsay and Reece made their CrossKeys wedding day unique
There was no traditional wedding party. Instead, Lindsay and Reese’s closest friends got ready alongside them, filling the morning with easy, supportive energy that set the tone for everything that followed.
They chose to do all their portraits before the ceremony, which meant once they said their vows, they could walk straight into cocktail hour and spend the rest of the day fully present with their family. Before any of that, though, they shared private vows and a first look on a secluded balcony above the back staircase at CrossKeys Vineyards, framed by white columns with the mountains stretched out behind them. It was a quiet, deeply emotional moment, full of tears and whispered words before anyone else even saw them together. It had been clear skies all day, but right before their first look began, a sudden rain shower pushed them onto that balcony. It turned out to be one of the most beautiful, intimate spots of the entire day.
Honestly, these two are stunning. Think Ken and Barbie, but somehow even more joyful. Lindsay was glowing, laughing, completely in her bridal bliss, and Reese matched her energy every step of the way. They were so easy and fun to photograph that some of the best images I’ve ever taken came out of this day, simply because they were so relaxed and in love.

Love & energy from friends and family
Lindsay is the youngest of four, with three older brothers who clearly adore her. All three are married with kids of their own, and during the reception, her brothers and her dad each gave speeches. The room was full of that protective, deeply loving big brother energy, the kind where you can tell she’s been cherished her whole life.
The reception brought the party. Shots were poured, the energy was high, and Lindsay changed into a little white dress to really hit the dance floor. At one point everyone gathered around as she rapped along to one of the songs she and Reese used to dance to at college parties, and the whole crowd danced their hearts out. They closed the night with a sparkler exit, sending Lindsay and Reese off into married life surrounded by pure joy.

Self-portraits at golden hour
My favorite moment of the day might have been during sunset portraits down by that willow tree near the entrance. The light was incredible, but what made it special was handing each of them my camera so they could take a photo of their new spouse, through their own eyes, in that golden light.
If you’re planning a wedding at CrossKeys Vineyards and looking for a Harrisonburg wedding photographer who will capture every joyful, emotional, unscripted moment, I would love to hear from you.
