House Mountain Inn, Irvine Estate Lexington VA Wedding Venue Review

House Mountain Inn is a Lexington, Virginia wedding venue known for its scenic location and mountain views. It’s nestled on a hillside in a remote location surrounded by mountains, forest, and a beautiful pond. There are actually two wedding venues on the property–the main Inn and Irvine Estate, a gorgeous estate house and secondary reception space known for its scenic overlook. The properties are available for weddings rented separately or together, if you’d like to utilize both venues. As a wedding photographer near Lexington, this is one of my favorite venues to visit! Here’s everything you need to know about getting married at House Mountain Inn or Irvine Estate

Venue Capacity and Layout

House Mountain Inn and Irvine Estate are located on the same property and operated by the same staff, but they may be rented separately for weddings and events. There is substantial separation between the two, so vehicles or shuttles are needed if you are planning an event that spans both properties. Irvine Estate sits up on a hill with a huge covered overlook area just off the side of a stone patio and outdoor fireplace, while House Mountain Inn sits on a hillside surrounded by mountains but at a lower elevation beside a pond. Both venues offer plenty of space both indoor and outdoor–multiple areas so you can host your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception seamlessly.

Rain plan

The rain plan options at House Mountain Inn are quite straight-forward! The main House Mountain Inn has a covered pavilion where your 150+ guests can eat dinner, dance, and celebrate with you. For chilly weather, there is an enclosed space inside the lodge that seats fewer guests, but is still a suitable option for most parties. For your portraits, we can utilize the pavilion, covered front porch, interior spaces with large windows, and balcony areas. There’s really a lot of potential even in the rain!

For rainy days at Irvine Estate, I really feel it’s even more flexible. The overlook area with fantastic mountain views is entirely covered (although not enclosed), so your ceremony can look as beautiful as ever. Plus, you can use this space for portraits as well. The reception area is typically indoors in the banquet room, so you won’t see any interruption to that plan.

Getting ready space

Both buildings have multiple rooms and spaces so that both halves of the wedding party can get ready on site and not cross paths. There is also on-site lodging if you are interested in staying the night prior or wedding night on the property. The best news (for your photographer at least!) is that almost all of the getting ready spaces have natural light available.

Aesthetic

House Mountain Inn has a cozy lodge getaway feel, with stone patios and water features and tons of greenery. The mountain views are the highlight of the aesthetics for sure! Irvine estate offers a similar look and feel.

House Mountain Inn Wedding Cost

Costs for rental and catering are not explicitly listed on their website, but are estimated on their Wedding Wire profile. They do have a lot of accommodations and amenities included in the base rental price, which is likely a cost per guest, since catering is included. The estimated rental cost including basic food service is $15,000 to $20,000, likely for just one of the two venues. This is incredibly reasonable for the local market–about mid range for the Lexington area, but a deal for all they include.
