Rainy wedding day photography at Red August Farm | Waynesboro, VA
We rolled up to this September wedding with a car full of clear umbrellas, mud boots, camera covers, and even backup clothes prepared for a rainy wedding day at Red August Farm in Waynesboro, VA. Hurricane rain fallout made the rain plan for the day 100% necessary. Not to worry though—Katelyn and the Champagne Wishes team were all over it! Everyone was in good spirits and ready to do whatever we needed to make the day perfect.
Getting ready for the wedding
I was greeted by Timber upon arrival, the cutest bonus wedding party member and truly the star of the reception later. Weddings with dogs are extra special! Tayler and Brian chose Red August Farm in part because of how accommodating the venue is for including a dog in your wedding.
One Last Avocado floral team had an awesome assortment of blooms ready for details as soon as I got started. Morgan with Morgan Olivia Events was ahead of schedule with hair and makeup, allowing the bridal party some time to kick back and have mimosas. I love when the whole vendor team is aligned!
Getting ready was full of fun energy. And no—you’re not seeing double. Tayler’s maid of honor is also her twin. And, their weddings were only a few weeks apart! Timber also wanted to be part of the bridal portrait action, and I was happy to oblige.
Red August Farm – A Waynesboro Wedding Venue perfect for all weather
The couple chose Red August Farm for its landscapes and views, especially their tree lined drive. So, despite the rain, we grabbed umbrellas and headed outside. First up, Tayler shared a first look and special gift with her father. Then, we headed to the beautiful drive for her first look with Brian! Although damp, the first look was as special as ever.
I’m so glad they opted for a first look and that the wedding party was willing to get a little wet for portraits. After the ceremony, the rain only picked up, so this really was our only shot at a full wedding party portrait outdoors.

The rest of the day unfolded so perfectly! I loved hearing their personal vows, sweet toasts from friends and family that solidified what I already expected—these are two incredible and selfless people. After all the formalities, the dance floor opened with timber’s theme song—you guessed it… timber!
