This scenic, 15 acre wedding venue is located in Augusta County, Virginia, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. It sits close to Staunton and Waynesboro, just 30 minutes from Charlottesville. Red August Farm Venue Capacity and Layout
The red barn seats 300 guests for your wedding. There are chairs and 30 tables provided by the venue, so you won’t have to worry about rentals unless you have a specific aesthetic vision in mind for seating. Below the barn is a covered patio with a bar area. Many couples use this space for cocktail hour. It is shielded from the rain, but still offers views of the valley landscapes.
For outdoor ceremonies, there are multiple location options throughout the property. You can choose to have your wedding in front of the gorgeous stone hearth out front, beneath the trees in the barn lawn, on the back patio, and of course you can always do an indoor ceremony in the barn itself.
Rain plan
Depending on your reception layout, you may be able to have a rain plan without having to flip the space. The barn has two open sections, so a smaller ceremony and reception could occur without using the same floor space. Or, the lower covered patio could serve as a ceremony space in a pinch. Many of the images in this article were taken on a rainy day.
Getting ready space
Red August Farm has a full bridal suite complete with lodging overnight if needed. There’s a kitchenette, huge lighted mirror area, and plenty of seating for your wedding party.
Below the barn, there is also a lounge area for the other half of the wedding party. It’s a little more rustic and not climate controlled, but it’s close to the bar!
Wedding Venue Aesthetic
As implied in the name, Red August Farm is a barn in farmland. They have beautiful views of the Shenandoah valley, surrounding mountains, and a gorgeous tree lined drive that blooms in the spring and turns orange in the fall. The barn interior is neutral, allowing you to make the space your own.
Red August Farm Wedding Cost
As of 2023, the rental cost for the weekend at Red August Farm is $8,000. This is one of few venues that allows you to have the whole weekend, which means you can rehearse and set up, host your wedding, stay the night, and then have plenty of time for tear down or a post-wedding brunch. Remember that total venue cost—when comparing multiple venues—should include considerations including rentals needed/included, catering restrictions, amenities, etc. Rentals can significantly add to the cost, so what is included with the venue rental fee is an important detail.
Wedding Photography at Red August Farm
There are tons of photogenic locations throughout the property. The side of the bold red barn and tree lined drive by the back entrance are the most iconic and heavily photographed spots. However, there’s also a beautiful front porch, the rear of the barn, wildflowers lining the rear fence, wide open landscapes, the stone chimney, and an adorable swing moment.
I love photographing weddings at Red August Farm because of the vast variety of locations around the property. The venue layout also offers several rainy day options, and a smooth transition from ceremony to portrait time so we can make the most of your cocktail hour without wasting time waiting for guests to clear the area.
