Intimate Summer Garden Wedding at the Farmhouse at Veritas Winery, Afton VA

Vivid florals frame this garden-inspired, summer wedding dinner party with fine dining and wine pairings at the farmhouse at Veritas Vineyards. Captured by Photography by Jo, this micro wedding on a Tuesday afternoon features pops of pink and yellow florals, adorable bird details, and all the newlywed joy!

Getting married at The Farmhouse at Veritas

When Afton and Nate stumbled upon the town of Afton on a weekend away, they knew they had to come back and get married here. They were thrilled to bring their closest friends back to Veritas to experience a gourmet, intimate, family dining experience. What better way to get married than a Tuesday evening in the blue ridge mountains, wining and dining with only your biggest supporters around you, watching the sun set behind the garden!

Locally sources wedding florals in Afton, VA

Inspired by the little Afton flower stand, which they had seen on their first trip down, they wanted locally grown/sourced flowers with vibrant summer colors. Jenn with Cville Flower Girl absolutely brought this vision to life! Afton had always loved hydrangeas, making the landscaping around the Farmhouse at Veritas the perfect place to get married. Beautiful rolling mountains accented by the farmhouse’s gardens, grapevines, and the sun setting in the hillside was the most warm, welcoming, and serene setting for their celebration.

An intimate, intentional micro wedding in virginia

They described themselves as very selective about their guests and vendors in order to create a meaningful night of fellowship, conversation, and celebration. “We want this wedding to show who we are and share that with our people.” They shared their love of food and wine with this inner circle. There were tears, joy, love and wine all around! This couple selected and designed every aspect of their wedding with careful intention, down to having custom made wooden placecards—for the vendors too!

Personal touches from the most sentimental couple

Their personal vows spoke of deep trust and becoming something new together. They reminisced on their favorite moments of their relationship, but mostly painted a picture of a future of unlimited joy and deep sense of belonging.

In the spirit of new beginnings, the couple chose a new family name—the Coveys. The bird theme for the wild coveys was woven throughout the decor. “Our new last name (Covey) means “brood of birds”. It’s kind of an inside joke for us,” they shared.

In an a-typical garden dinner party style reception, the Coveys invited their guests to join in some of their typical evening routine—dancing to the theme music as their favorite show comes on (“couch dancing”). And in lieu of toasts, they were seated family-style and got to exchange kind words and informal toasts with their whole guest list throughout the evening.

After the wedding, the couple continued to enjoy wine country, this time in Napa.

Love is the Tuesdays

Their first dance song sums up the evening so perfectly. As they took to the dance floor and we all watched on this Tuesday evening, proud and excited for them… excitement turn to happy tears as the first chorus ended:

“It’s not just highs and lows, and champagne toast | I’ve come to know that love’s not only the best days | Or the worst days | Love is the Tuesdays” – Jake Scott
